Happy Easter

Banners and Sashes

This year for St. Patrick's Day we made banners and sashes. The colours were green and yellow for Newcastle. On the banners we put the names of places in Newcastle with a fabric marker.

Third and Fourth class helped us make the letters. We all had a turn. Then we made green and yellow sashes out of ribbon. We will wear them at the St. Patrick's Day parade.

Rainwater Experiment

We did an experiment to see if we could collect rainwater. We brought in mugs and left them outside on a wet day. Then we brought them inside and tasted the water. It was nice. Lots of people in the world have to get water like this. When it doesn't rain they have no water. We are sending money to Trocaire to help them dig wells so everyone can have water every day.

Potatoes

At the beginning of March we sowed potatoes in grow bags. We used compost and topsoil. We all helped.

They had to be 10cm deep so we measured with a ruler.

Then we watered them and put them in a bright place.

We will check them every day!

After Easter our potatoes had grown this much!!

Now our potatoes are this tall!
